Louis P. Brien, President of the Executive Committee of the Insurance Law and Civil Litigation section of the Canadian Bar Association, Québec Division (CBA-Québec), and the members of his committee were awarded the Claude-Beaudoin Award for Excellence 2019 – CBA-Quebec at the Association’s Presidential Dinner held in Montreal on June 6, 2019.
Audrey Boctor, President of CBA-Québec, highlighted all the time and energy the committee has devoted to the Association’s mission, which is to offer its members high-quality continuing education activities.
“It feels like winning the Most Valuable Player Award, but on behalf of a whole team,” remarked Louis, praising the work accomplished by the committee in an interview with CBA-Québec (French only).
In view of the many continuing education seminars available, the committee felt it was necessary to offer the most innovative conferences possible and to reach a large number of participants with a variety of subjects involving both insurance law and civil litigation. The active participation to the the many activities and the positive comments of attendees demonstrate the accuracy of this analysis.
Very active in the legal community, Louis has also played important roles with the Bar of Québec and the Bar of Montreal over the years. At CBA-Québec, he was first a member of the executive of the civil litigation national section, then of the insurance law section before assuming the role of President of the Insurance Law and Civil Litigation section (Québec Division) since 2017.
We would also like to recognize Julia De Rose’s commitment as a member of the Executive Committee.
