Peter Moraitis, an attorney who practiced for several years with a provincial sports federation, and an accomplished athlete in his own right, is a member of the organizing committee for the Montreal portion of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championship to be held at the Centre Bell from this December 26th to January 5th.
This Championship, organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), is an annual competition for players under 20 years of age playing on national hockey teams from around the world.
During the event, Peter will be in charge of a team of approximately 70 volunteers to cover all transportation-related services. These services include managing a fleet of 30 or so vehicles in addition to a certain number of buses and cube trucks, setting up and carrying out a shuttle service between the hotels and the competition venues, courtesy car services for distinguished guests, transporting the players’ equipment and managing a command center.
Canada will be welcoming the IIHF World Junior Championship for the 11th time. Montreal last hosted the tournament in 1978.
