A law graduate from the Université de Sherbrooke, Mariya Papancheva joined the civil and commercial litigation team at Lapointe Rosenstein Marchand Melançon in 2025, after beginning her career at a leading Quebec law firm.
Recognized for her authenticity, rigor, and commitment to excellence, Mariya is also known for her availability and tenacity—qualities her clients particularly value. She adopts a strategic and pragmatic approach in defending the interests of the parties she represents, whether before the courts or through alternative dispute resolution methods. Her civil and commercial law practice notably includes litigation related to construction, manufacturer liability, mortgage remedies, and security law. She also handles disputes involving commercial and residential leases, as well as shareholder conflicts.
During her studies, Mariya interned with the Honourable Claude Dallaire and the Honourable Johanne Brodeur, both judges at the Superior Court of Quebec. This formative experience allowed her to develop a comprehensive view of legal cases, a strong analytical sense, and a sharp critical mind. Previously, Mariya also served as a teaching assistant and team leader for the legal research course at the Université de Sherbrooke, where she honed her legal research skills and her ability to clearly explain complex concepts.
Since joining the firm, Mariya has been actively involved in mentoring and training the next generation of legal professionals. She places great importance on sharing her knowledge and expertise with students and interns.
