They packed and delivered freshly prepared, nutritious meals to the homes of individuals living with loss of autonomy. This volunteer activity was initiated by a young student, Valerie Giroux, and implemented with the support of the LRMM Recruitment Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Santropol Roulant was founded in 1995 by a group of young adults who sought to use food as a vehicle to break social and economic isolation between generations and cultures. The organization\u2019s mission is to strengthen and nourish the local community with novel approaches through active youth engagement, urban food systems, food security and community care. As such, this organization includes thousands of volunteers who garden, cook, pack and deliver meals together.<\/p>\n<p>The LRMM summer and articling students were divided into teams of two to three and assigned specific delivery routes for the half-day activity.
