{"id":3001,"date":"2013-09-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-16T14:27:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lrmm.com\/uncategorized\/bertrand-paiement-speech-on-the-history-of-class-actions-in-quebec-2\/"},"modified":"2022-03-16T10:38:44","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T14:38:44","slug":"bertrand-paiement-speech-on-the-history-of-class-actions-in-quebec-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lrmm.com\/en\/what-s-new\/news\/2013-news\/bertrand-paiement-speech-on-the-history-of-class-actions-in-quebec-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Bertrand Paiement &#8211; Speech on the history of class actions in Quebec"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On September 20<sup>th<\/sup>, <a href=\"\/en-CA\/Team\/Attorneys\/Lawyer+Paiement+Bertrand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bertrand Paiement<\/a> will speak at the meeting of L\u2019amicale des avocats et avou\u00e9s COV\u00c9A that brings together almost 500 French professionals, property claims adjusters and lawyers (COV\u00c9A).<\/p>\n<p>The speech entitled <em>L\u2019action de groupe au Qu\u00e9bec : les 34 ann\u00e9es d\u2019existence du recours collectif dans un syst\u00e8me civiliste<\/em>, will, among other things, address the impacts of class actions on the work of loss or damage insurers.<\/p>\n<p>This topic is of special interest to French lawyers given that a bill to introduce this type of recourse in the French legal system passed first reading in the French National Assembly last July 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, while the French Senate, in turn, adopted it in first reading on September 14<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Note that in France, COV\u00c9A is what is referred to as a Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de groupe d\u2019Assurance Mutuelle (mutual insurance group).
