Hockey Québec recently announced the appointment of Peter Moraitis as provincial referee-in-chief.
Alongside his legal career, Peter has always been involved in the hockey community. He boasts an impressive list of achievements in the field of officiating and within Hockey Québec. Before joining Lapointe Rosenstein Marchand Melançon, he served as legal counsel and officiating coordinator to Hockey Québec. As an experienced official himself and a referee in the ranks of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), his wealth of experience will be a major asset to the branch.
Peter also holds a Level VI certification from Hockey Canada’s National Officiating Certification Programme, that is, the most prominent level of certification for a Canadian official. He was also referee-in-chief of the St-Hubert Jets Minor Hockey Association and was involved at the regional level in various capacities.
Hockey Québec is a governing body, founded in 1976, which coordinates the activities of about 7,000 teams including 100,000 players scattered across some 250 sports organizations and that supports the work of nearly 50,000 volunteer administrators, coaches and officials throughout Quebec.
