Francis C. Meagher joined our firm in 1985 as an attorney and became partner in 1989. He focuses his practice on insurance law, commercial litigation and business law. Since 1994, the evolution of his clients’ needs has led him to develop the financing aspect of business law, and more particularly the completion and enforcement of securities and financing for different types of assets including a variety of equipment, corporate restructuring and contract negotiation.
Francis’ clientele mainly comprises major financial institutions, small- and mid-sized businesses as well as insurance and securities brokers, whether in matters relating to business law or in claims before the courts.
His expertise in business law covers corporate finance, the drafting and negotiating of various agreements such as shareholder agreements, loan agreements, commercial leases as well as incorporations, purchases or sales of businesses and the multiple aspects of bankruptcy, insolvency, repossession of commercial equipment and protection of the securities granted to clients. Francis has extensive experience before the Quebec civil tribunals of trial and appeal jurisdictions as well as administrative tribunals. In his appearances before the court, he has addressed, among other subjects: insurance; coverage and indemnity (property and casualty); civil, commercial and municipal liability; securities; termination of employment; seizure before judgment; injunctions; bonds; bankruptcy; insolvency.
