Lara Daniel is a member of our Intellectual Property group. She focuses her practice on various aspects of intellectual property law, namely trade-marks, copyright, domain names and trade secrets. She is a registered trade-mark agent and regularly manages and supervises national and international trade-mark and domain name portfolios for clients. Lara’s practice extends from trade-mark prosecution to opposition and summary expungement proceedings, including drafting opinions in connection with the registrability and availability of trade-marks, representations at hearings before the Trade-mark Opposition Board, and cross-examinations on affidavits. She also advises clients in connection with infringement files in connection with trade-marks, copyrights and domain names before administrative tribunals, provincial and federal courts.
Lara often assists our Commercial Law group with the intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions, including due diligence verifications, drafting of legal opinions and preparing various agreements in relation to intellectual property matters.
She has expertise in drafting distribution, franchise and license agreements, both on a national and international scale. Moreover, she has expertise related to marketing and advertising law, product packaging and labelling, information technology and the requirements of the French Language Charter. Lara often provides guidance to clients in relation to compliance with various federal and provincial policies dealing with these issues.
